144 reproductions of original paintings and sketches, 20 detailed maps and several fascinating first hand written accounts, including the American Military History, contained in this CD give you a splendid overview of the historic Revolutionary War. Arranged in a convenient chronological order, the images and text are easy to access and provide an in-depth, ring side view of what really happened during the war.

The continual souring of relationships between Britain and her North American colonies that began in 1760 eventually led to a bitter war. One catalyzing factor in precipitating hostilities was the imposition of the "Intolerable Acts" in 1774. It wasn’t long before New England witnessed the breakout of large-scale conflict. The battle of Lexington and Concord signaled beyond doubt that colonies were on a warpath with the British. The outbreak of violence cohered the colonists into organized units. The First and Second Continental Congresses were convened in an attempt to bring about reconciliation with the British. King George III, however, refused to compromise, leaving the Congress no choice but to declare war and Independence from British rule on the 4th of July 1776.

Britain retaliated by sending thousands of well-trained soldiers, who initially gained easy ground because of their richer experience in warfare. The defeat of Colonial troops on Long Island is a classic example of British dominance and military superiority. With time, however, the Colonials learned their lessons and won a series of hard fought battles. Thus began a seesaw sequence of events with some victories coming the colonial way and others favoring the British. Several historic battles followed - the Battle of Saratoga, The Battle of Brandywine Creek and the battle of Monmouth Courthouse to name a few. The war eventually ended with the Siege of Yorktown. The signing of the Treaty of Paris signified the beginning of a new era in American History.

The contents of this CD reveal how America won its independence through blood, sweat and sacrifice over the course of the war. The Revolutionary War gave the US a clean slate upon which to construct a new society and a new government and nowhere is the story of her struggles better told than on this fabulous CD.

EDITORIAL REVIEW:

Examination of the contents of this CD is certain to serve many purposes. Of the three that come to mind easily, the most obvious is the historic enlightenment it provides about the origins of an independent America. Second, it provides a brilliant insight into the grim realities of war and the sacrifices colonial soldiers had to make to break free from the shackles of British rule. Third, it presents in text form the American Military History, a volume first published in 1956 as a textbook for the senior ROTC courses. This document was designed to inculcate in U.S. Military officers and soldiers awareness of our nation's military past and to demonstrate to them that the study of military history is an essential ingredient in leadership development. This makes this CD an invaluable resource material.

Brilliant sketches and paintings take you back in time to colonial battlefields. So vivid is the imagery that you can almost hear the battle cries of our courageous soldiers, as they took on the vastly superior British in many bloody battles. Detailed maps and written records plug in any gaps left in the pictorial record.

I can’t see how a history buff could claim to have a complete record of American History without having this fabulous CD in his or her collection. If you don’t own a copy of Remembering the Revolutionary War CD, order one from A2ZCDS.com right now.
